They sat on the blanket, Mason snuggled into the crook of Cory's arm and together they sat quietly, watching the stars twinkle in the night, glimmering off the calm blue of the water. They just sat there, each one lost in his own world
Cory was gathering his thoughts while Mason was in total turmoil. His brain whirled with what had just happened. His dream was no longer just a dream, it was real, and Cory was real. He wasn't sure what to do; that one, now brief, kiss was like a match to a fire. He wanted more, but he was also scared. He never ever thought that Cory was gay, but Cory had just tried to seduce him. How could he have missed that? He was also so damn comfortable. He had never felt this way before. When George held him, it was good, it was safe, but this, this was way different. It was exciting, thrilling, and yet he felt so unsafe, like he was on the edge of a cliff, waiting to fall off.
“I didn't want to scare you Mason," Cory finally said.
I Know," he replied.
"It's just that after this afternoon, the way you kept looking."
"Why didn't you say anything?"
"Didn't know how, besides, you would only have bolted."
"Yeah, maybe."
"You gonna make trouble about this, Mason?"
Mason looked at Cory. Make trouble? How could he tell this dream man of his that there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for him? Make trouble?
"No Cory, I wouldn't do that; I, well, I uh, this isn’t, I mean, well, I like you!"
"Huh?"
"I can't, I mean, well, shit what am I supposed to say? I always wanted, I mean, well, I...."
"You mean you are..."
"Uh huh!"
"For real?"
"Uh huh."
"So then they were right? I mean you are?"
